Portable appliance testing checks the plug-in equipment in a workplace or rental – kettles, heaters, extension leads, computers, power tools. We test, label and give you a register so you can show your insurer, landlord or inspector that it has been done.

How often?
There is no fixed legal interval – the law requires equipment to be maintained safely, and testing is how you prove it. We recommend intervals based on the type of equipment and how hard a life it has: a hand drill on a building site needs checking far more often than a desk lamp. We will not sell you annual testing on everything if it is not needed.
What you get
Each item labelled with a pass/fail and date, a register listing every item and result, and a note of anything that failed and why. Failed items are removed from service with your agreement.

Can you do it out of hours?
Yes – for shops and offices we often test early morning or evening so you are not disrupted.
