A new kitchen nearly always needs new electrics – more sockets, dedicated circuits for the oven, hob and appliances, and lighting that actually lets you see what you are chopping. We work alongside your kitchen fitter so first fix is done before units go in.
The order matters: we first-fix (cables in walls) after the old kitchen comes out and before plastering; then we second-fix (sockets, lights, connections) once units and worktops are in. Send us the kitchen plan and we will mark up where everything goes.
Kitchen work involving new circuits is notifiable. We issue the certificate and notify Building Control through the NICEIC – you do not need to do anything.
Do I need a whole new consumer unit for a new kitchen?
Not always. We will check whether your existing board has capacity and RCD protection, and tell you honestly.
