Electrical Safety throughout the Festive Season

As we get into the festive season a bit earlier it seems this year, please take a moment to consider a few electrical safety warnings;

  • No matter how tempting it is to squeeze another socket in to ‘make do’ these can quickly over heat and cause fire.
  • Check your lights conform to British Standards
  • All outdoor lights should use an RCD (Residual Current Device which switches off power instantly)
  • Fitting an outside power socket is a preferable and safer alternative to putting a power supply in a plastic bag!
  • Unplug lights before going to bed
  • Check the battery in your smoke alarm regularly

Getting Festive in the Forest

It’s always a pleasure to work with the local councils to get the Christmas lights up around the Forest of Dean!

Although this year is somewhat different, with no arranged evenings to turn the lights on, we hope that everyone will still find festive cheer around the county.

Halloween, Half Term & Hunting Rocks

At Oakey & Son Electrical, we thought we would put a bit of safe fun back into Halloween for the local community in which we live and work.

With it being half term we will be hiding our hand painted Halloween rocks around the Blakeney area and all preparations are in place for the hunt to begin.

If you find one please call us in 01594 723062 to arrange to collect your box of sweets from us ! Please do bring the rock back with you (once you have taken a picture with it in your location and shared it to our page) and then we can have more winners over the week !

In these times of Social Isolation we at Oakey & Son Ltd have been keen to keep in touch with our customers as best that we can. With this in mind we have come up with a plan to offer you all the opportunity to have a Virtual Quote.

What this means is that whilst you are at home and you notice that you may need some extra lights or sockets, or that you are changing the layout of a room, you will be able to contact us through your mobile phone and be able to show the work that you require without us entering your home. Then if the quote is acceptable we can put you as a priority customer when are we are allowed to get back to work.
